About Me
Food Network, especially Tyler, Rachael, Bobby, Guy and Anne, have literally taught me how to cook over the past several years. I could only cook ramen noodles, frozen pizzas, hamburger helper and spaghetti from a jar when I moved out of my parent's house 14 years ago. I'm so very thankful to these chefs for teaching me how to cook fresh food well.
Cooking and photography are my primary hobbies. My inspiration to cook is my family's health. Back in the day when I was eating only prepackaged "meals" my weight went up from 110 pounds to 180 pounds due to the high sodium content and excessive calorie counts. My husband has problems with his blood pressure and is lactose intolerant so I choose to cook for our (and our children's) well-being and to maintain a healthy weight which has been back down to 120 for the past 5 years.
My #1 pet-peeve is people mispronouncing the word "to" as "ta". I know it sounds strange but try listening to a news broadcast. You'll go crazy within the first 15 minutes, too!
Favorite Foods
Are you seriously asking me to choose just a few?! If I absolutely must narrow my favorites down to just a few then I would pick anything grilled - especially marinated meats and seasoned veggies - and genuine key lime pie.
I've been cooking a couple recipes a week from the FN website for a few years now. I am frequently asked to cook for large family gatherings and special occassions. I'm not really "famous" for one particular dish because I cook all different types of meals from various regions. My personal preferences are anything Creole and Mediterranean.
My absolute favorite restaurant is a hole-in-the-wall place called the Mediterranean Deli which is located at 981 W. Fairbanks Ave., Orlando, FL 32804. They serve the most delicious gyros on the planet!!!
