A whole lot of trouble and not much bang for the buck, time wise. Taste was just OK. By the way when Ina made these she pre slathered them with olive oil before putting them in the oven. The recipe doesn't specify that.

It's OK. Took a lot of timed cooking with each step, and the taste was so so. Used an immersion blender right in the pot and that worked great. Only did about 5 pulses to save a few large bits of broccoli so it didn't look like pea soup. Used regular crotons and was fine with that. Overall not a keeper as it just took too much time."

Mine was watery too. Used chilis drained from a can with no water bath. Overcooked it for about an hour total and let it set for at least 30-60 min because all guests were late. Was pretty tasty. Next time I'll use a turkey baster to get that clear water out of the bottom of the pan, unless someone knows of a better way. "

Was a big hit on Mother's Day. Used stale Hawaiian bread cubed (the round loaf) . Used two round loaves for this recipe.Set it out on a tray for two days to let the cubes dry out. Or you could cube it and heat them in a 200 degree oven for 20-30 minutes. Only used one stick of butter. Also cooked it in a heavy deep lasagna dish for an hour at 375 "
