"My mom has been making this recipe for 35+ years for her children. She has used different flavors of Jell-O along with different cake mixes. My personal favorite is French Vanilla Cake Mix (baked as directed) and cherry Jell-O. Top with fresh whipped cream (1 pint cream,1/4 Cup sugar, 1/2 tsp. vanilla ...whipped till firm peaks form). Fresh cherries never hurts either. If you don't have any, don't worry, the family will love it anyway.
