Alton mentions above that the darker the sugar, the chewier the cookie. I'm assuming this means that using dark brown sugar will make the cookies chewier. "The directions leave a lot to be desired. Where it says to add to four -I'm assuming you mean four cups of flour? The recipe calls for 8 cups of flour but the directions don't give any instructions about the rest of the flour?"
