OMG! This was SO delish! However, I followed her recipe on The Pioneer Woman website which has you dredge the chicken pieces first before frying. I seasoned the flour with 1 tsp each garlic powder and onion powder, added 3 cloves minced garlic to the Trinity, used fresh thyme sprigs, sub apple juice for the cider, sub half & half for cream....

Hi, Susan! The bacon grease will probably just give the ribs a hint of bacon flavor. With all of the other seasonings, it might get lost in the cooking process. I'm gonna add a little liquid smoke to mine. Or if you can find one of those smoker bags made of aluminum, that would work, but, you'll have to cut the ribs into a few pieces. Good luck!...

Crisco did change their formula. I heard Melinda Lee ( Food Talk host) on
KNX am1070 on the radio talking about it. A lot of cooks were unhappy with the change, too.

HORRIBLE!!! GUY- DON'T YOU PROOF READ YOUR RECIPE???!! I FOLLOWED THE CHICKEN BATTER EXACTLY, EVEN THOUGH THE SALT SEEMED LIKE A LOT. IT WAS WAAAAYYYY TOO SALTY!!!
