Replied to mac and cheese

Did you use unsalted butter like it says and Kosher salt?

I agree with you 100%, make the recipe as it is read or don't gripe about it. I will bet a lot didn't use unsalted butter and most didn't use KOSHER salt, they used regular table salt. It makes a big difference.

This is a rather rude comment. I enjoy this show, but this was a rather careless video, I can't speak for the entire show. She didn't use a funnel, didn't show cleaning the rims of the jars, checking the jars for chips, etc. but I guess if it is just a recipe and not a canning show, it is "What it is". If there was a disclaimer like some said, I hope...

I am just reading this as I have a duck in the freezer and cherries are in season. This does sound way too long to cook a duck as I like mine medium at best.

Quinoa doesn't have a taste but you are right about texture. If you are not a fan of rice pudding, you wouldn't like this . I also think sometimes heating orange changes the flavor, that might have happened. I haven't tried this yet, but I might give it a whirl. I have an old family recipe for rice pudding, no eggs, we are not an egg eating family....

I think it would take some major changes to use rice. A longer cooking time at the first cook, of course. That might make the orange juice not as tasty. When I make my recipe for rice pudding, I start with already almost cooked all the way rice, because it cooks so long in so much liquid. You might just skip this recipe or get the real stuff, quinoa...

I think we should be able to comment without having to rate. That should be a feature you could add. Many times we have had questions about recipe shown on the shows that don't jive with the recipe in the web site.

Okay, I just watched it and he added NO olive oil on the show that I saw. I don't know if it was in the pan he put in the oven maybe, if so, it might have 1/4 of a cup, but I didn't see it there either.

It is on today, May 24 at 2:00pm central if you read this to check the amount. I will probably have it on, I saw it last night and checked today for the recipe. It doesn't mention he used ground sirloin either, not that it matters. I thought FN added a place on the recipes for us to add notes, I don't see it here.

I buy the Kikkoman brand of low sodium soy sauce. I have HB too, and I find this brand to be very good, and don't miss the sodium.

"I had this for the first time the other day and it is like no other mushroom soup I have had. I don't see that anyone has tried to duplicate it yet. It is creamy and slighty pink or orange, so it may have tomato or red pepper (bell) in there. Anyone had it yet, anyone want to venture a guess at how to make it? :?:"
