"This is delicious..That said, I read the reviews, followed some other's suggestions and it still turned out very well. The only reason I didn't follow it to the T is to avoid a trip to the market, so I had to amend it per the contents of my refrigerator and the guidance of other's reviews. 1/2 the recipe; cream rather than milk (I had extra from the holidays, so why not make this super-iindulgent?). 2 C. Shredded "Mexican" style cheese" and three slices of cheddar, (like I said, whatever was in the frig, but it was all REAL cheese, not processed)- 3 C. Rather than Gruyere, I used freshly grated parmesan, - 1/2 to 3/4 C; I did not add nutmeg; No tomatoes, but did add flavor with a little hot sauce; Grated add'l parmesan on top after transfer to baking; Even with halving recipe, this filled an entire casserole dish with enough for 2 ramekins (which I froze); = Luscious, a tad decadent though. Will make this again as published. Ina, thank you Ina for your expertise.
