Nothing to write home to mom about. The best part is that they aren't fried; otherwise, it's a lot of work for a meager payoff.

Reviewed Pumpkin Pie

Dec 23, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

I made this for my wife, who grew up on pumpkin pie, however, I believe sweet potato pie to be far superior.
This recipe was definitely better than the run of the mill, bland pp. However, after reading the comments I decided to use only 1/2 cup of half and half. That was the only thing that made this pie edible. Had I used the entire cup,...

My first R. Irvine recipe. This could be the start of something beautiful. I've never had leeks before, but I took a tip from Ina Garten and roasted the veggies prior. I cut up 12 B-sized Yukon Gold potatoes w/skins, leeks, onion and celery, tossed them in 1/4 cup of evoo a pinch of salt and pepper and roasted at 350 for 20 min. I then followed t"

Plain buttermilk pancakes are my favorite food in the entire world. I eat them everywhere I go at every restaurant that serves them. The Original Pancake House serves the best buttermilk pancakes in the world. These are not diner pancakes, good diner pancakes, excellent breakfast specialty restaurant pancakes or anything of that nature. These ...

Reviewed Caribbean Chicken Wings

May 21, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

There was nothing special about these wings. Perhaps those who enjoy the 'Caribbean' flare may think otherwise. They were'n't bad, but they weren't memorable either and definitely not worth 4 or 5 stars."

Reviewed Outrageous Brownies

Feb 18, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

These were very good brownies if you like them fudgy . I, however, prefer a more cakey brownie so I'll keep looking for a good recipe. My wife loved them though. I followed the directions to the letter. The dimensions of the baking pan are unusual. My next door neighbor is a caterer however, and saved the day. "

Reviewed French Toast

Feb 8, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This was my first Alton Brown recipe....good start. The best french toast I ever had. I used half and half and 1% milk, added 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla and maple extract and a pinch of cinnamon and nutmeg. I also used texas toast. I set my electric griddle to 325 and oh boy was it tasty!!"
