Should I cut in cold butter, like in a streusel topping? Or cream soft butter, like in a frosting? Maybe I'll try half and half to test it out!

Reviewed beef stew with root vegetables

I must add that I cooked it in a slow-cooker and thickened it twice! It was still stew-y, but the crock-pot did not evaporate much of the broth, which left a lot of delicious leftovers!

This turned out very well. Despite burning the butter in the pan with the oil, the beef absorbed a lot of great flavor from the stew. Next time I will probably cook the onion and garlic first and then do the steak to get more of their flavors cooked into the meat.
The beef flavor was very strong, a vegetable stock may lighten the flavor...

Reviewed Black Bean Soup with Mojo

So flavorful. The mojo is a MUST. Chose this recipe to use up some canned black beans, so reduced water by over half. Garbanzo beans/ chickpeas would be a great vegetarian alternative to the pork ribs. Forgot the onion and it was still delicious! Huge garlic fan, and this recipe was perfect for that. ""
