As Guy likes to say, this recipe is "on point". Great flavor and balance, not too strong and very drinkable. The colors come mostly from the curacao and cranberry juice, so adding more of these might help those that wish more color. I give this 4 stars as a compromise. 5 stars for the technique and structure of the dish, but 3 stars for taste as the cinnamon just overpowers everything. The minute I added it I questioned if I had over done it. My wife upon entering the kitchen immediately questioned the "amount of cinnamon" based on smell alone. Perhaps we are just not used to...

I too am using electric :( and have found that in most recipes, I need to simmer or saute longer as a result. This recipe is a "standard" at our house. It takes a little effort, but is well worth it. The house smelled amazing -- My granddaughter asked "Pappy, what smells so pretty?". PS -- My wonderful wife helps with this recipe, and we use a scoop to portion the meatballs while the other partner rolls the meatballs.
