Reviewed Old-Time Beef Stew

Outstanding beef stew! Although I believe you shouldn't rate a recipe if you have made modifications, I followed Paula's ratios of liquid and seasonings exactly. However, I did dust the beef with flour, salt, and pepper before browning. I also added an extra garlic clove, 6 mushrooms, and two potatoes to the vegetables. The seasoning is right on,...

This was excellent! I followed the recipe, but substituted honey for the agave, as another reviewer suggested. Several people at the potluck asked for the recipe. The addition of lime juice makes it refreshingly delicious. I will definitely make this again. "

Excellent! I followed the recipe exactly with the addition of 2 chopped hard boiled eggs. Tastes best if made the night before. Yum!"

This was our Christmas Eve dinner. Divine! I served it with roasted asparagus tips as another reviewer suggested. I made no alterations to the recipe, used fresh basil leaves and two good-sized fresh Dungeness crabs from which I scraped the crabmeat. I used a scale to make sure I had the required pound. I don't understand the other negative reviews...
