About Me
I'm a native Idahoan, but spent seven years in Kansas City before moving to Seattle five years ago. I work for a large international nonprofit in fundraising, but my true passion is cooking and baking. My dream in life would be to open my own delicatessen--I do not believe a sandwich to my standards can be found in Seattle. There are some good ones, but not the best. I am married to my best friend, Sean, who also acts as my personal sous chef in our kitchen. We have two cats, Jackson and T-Bone, and love to garden and play outside. We also love to trapse downtown to Pike Place Market and gather ingredients for a delicious meal. You can find anything there, but we especially love the fresh fish selection, of course the produce, the bread from Three Girl's Bakery, the sausages from Uli's, the cheeses from DiLaurenti's, and the hot donuts across the hall. YUM!
Favorite Foods
Omph. My favorite food is definitely anything Italian or Mediterranean. I'm also a sucker for anything citrus, garlic, or citrus and garlic together. The dish I'm most famous for is my Black Bean and Corn Salad. I actually got to demonstrate it on a local public television show, KCTS Cooks Salads! It was one of the highlights of my cooking career. However, if you ask my friends or coworkers, I think they all know me best by my pastries and desserts.
While in Kansas City, I took a break from my "real life" and worked for a year at Dean and Deluca (my all time favorite gourmet market). I was first in the kitchen, then moved into a pastry chef position. My time there taught me SO MUCH about food; I miss it horribly.
Buca di Beppo taught me to love and appreciate Italian food; I adore the Metropolitan Grill in Seattle for the steak; Macrina Bakery for breakfast and treats; Jalisco's in South Park (Seattle neighborhood) for the Carne Asada; Endolyne Joe's in West Seattle for breakfast; Indochine in Federal Way (suburb) for Thai food, Houston's in Kansas City for All-American food, and George's Greek Deli in Long Beach, CA for anything Meditteranean. I am a total foodie and proud of it.
I am on a new quest to find delicious healthy recipes and can't wait to read more on RecipeZaar!
