Reviewed Hoppin' John

"Creamy and smoky and a little spicy. Plus a good dose of fortune for the new year! I've been making Emeril's Hoppin John recipe for nearly 10 years now -- every New Year's Day. Love it; hubby loves it. I don't like green pepper, so I always leave that out and increase the onion and celery a little. I like to use fresh thyme. I also add a lit""

Reviewed Spicy Seared Scallop Salad

"I really wanted to like this recipe. My husband and I both love spicy food and can handle pretty spicy food (at least relative to what many of our friends and family can handle). About Me

I'm active duty Air Force, been in almost 22 years.  Married, no kid, one big white woofer.  My passion is food and wine, but I also love to travel and read.  Thanks to my husband, his family, and the Food Network, I'm quite a foodie.  I love trying new foods and flavors.  I love to cook and eat.  I love discovering great pairings.

When it comes to cooking, I'm inspired by my mother-in-law and lots of the Food Network stars (my favorite lately has been Anne Burrell).

I wouldn't call it a pet-peeve, but I do get disappointed when people are close-minded about food.

Favorite Foods

Where do I start?  Lobster, scallops, lamb, wood-fired pizza, earthy mushrooms, bananas foster, Thai food.

The most-often requested foods I make are:  banana bread, Thai curry, Thai beef salad, seared scallops, and white chicken chili.  I guess I'm most 'famous' for my Thai beef salad.

My favorite restaurant locally is Roux (upscale Cajun).  My favorite restaurant overall is probably Legal Seafood.
