Reviewed Pear, Apple and Cranberry Crisp

Thanks everyone! I reduced the sugar by 1/3 and omitted the orange juice and peel. I also reduced the butter by 1/4. Yum! Great fruit combination!

Reviewed Meatloaf

Sep 17, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Bad school cafeteria food is better than this pasty grey waste of every ingredient. I am ashamed I served this to my family. I had to tell them to pull off the bacon because it wasn't cooked even after an hour and a half. Simply horrible and I like meatloaf! "

Reviewed Magic Lemon Meringue Pie

Sep 15, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

The crust was far too fragile in it's unbaked state to attach meringue to. I did my best, and I do a lot of baking, but the top edge crumbled. It also calls for less butter than normal in a Graham cracker crust. I think that may have been the bigger problem. There are many similar and better recipes for this pie out there."

Beautiful, and always a hit! This is a deceptively simple yet elegant appetizer. Thanks Emeril!"

Reviewed Peach and Blueberry Crumbles

Aug 19, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Delicious and so easy! I made it in 6 ramekins for dinner on our boat and had enough left for a 6 inch crumble to leave behind for later. Any summer fruit/berry combo will do. Yum! "

Reviewed Hummingbird Cake

Oct 12, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Let me start by saying I like hummingbird cake and have baked it before using other recipes. This cake was very dry, and the lemon zest in the frosting completely overpowered the banana and pineapple flavors in the cake. Terrible recipe. If you wan to bake. Hummingbird cake, don't use this recipe."

Reviewed Steamed Littleneck Clams with Sweet Corn and Basil

Jul 16, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Okay, but I prefer a similar recipe with shrimp instead of clams. It also includes boiled red potatoes, which makes it a bit more substantial for a complete dinner.
Fun demo though."

Reviewed Caramelized Pear Gingerbread with Molasses Ice Cream

Nov 6, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Made this for a casual dinner party. Everyone enjoyed it. Not as pretty as the photo so I topped it with a sprinkling of chopped pecans and sparkling sugar to dress it up. I served it with homemade sweetened whipped cream instead of ice cream. Yummy, but the cake was a little dry so I give it 4 stars.""

Reviewed Bacon Cheese Grits with Collard Greens

Oct 19, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I love cheese grits! This is a little on the fatty side for me so next tme I will use Canadian bacon, but otherwise yum! I substituted 2% milk, sharp white cheddar and spinach. I wasnt serving right away so i let it sit covered in a 350 oven for 25 minutes. Delicious.""

Reviewed Country Ham Salad with Fresh Mozzarella and Balsamic-Molasses Vinaigrette

Jun 29, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Very simple and delicious I thought. I used regular baked ham that I had leftover. Little heavy on the balsamic was the comment by my family. The balsamic dressing gave the salad an odd unappealing color. I don't know if I will make this again."

Reviewed Patriotic Berry Trifle

Jun 16, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I made the recipe with a Sara lee poundcake as some others recommended. Instead of the heavy cream I used 1/2 cup of half and half to lighten the cream cheese and then I folded in 8 oz. Of lite whipped topping to lower the calories a bit. But it was still far too HEAVY for our taste. It was easier than the trifles I make from scratch, but no wher"

Reviewed Buffalo-Chicken Macaroni and Cheese

Jun 15, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I admit that I don't like really hot spicy food, so I used Monterey Jack instead of the pepper Jack cheese. I also did not have the hot sauce specified so I used Jim beam's hot sauce instead. So many people said they would add more spice that I felt safe with the 3/4 cups called for. Wow! Even my son who likes hot hot wings was feeling the flames!"
