"Great drink. I found the syrup a bit too sweet so next time I will likely cut the sugar by 1/2 and possibly add more lime juice to the drink. I didn't strain the lime zest out of the syrup. I used frozen dark (sweet) cherries."

I may cut the sugar by half and possibly even add more lime juice to the drink. You wouldn't want it too tart, though. I didn't strain the simple syrup.
