My Italian grandmother made this for some Catholic holiday (either Assumption or something).

Homemade noodles were what she used. Actually making these today at my mom';s request. As a kid we called them ""Milk Connies"

My grandmother made this all the time but no oil. A Venitian friend adds butter & nutmeg. Her gnocchi were lighter then my grandmother's and I always thought neres were good.

While I don't see see how an oil/fat can lighten the gnocchi, I would like to know the reason for it.

gnocchi are sometimes touchy to make. Air moister, potato consistancy and flour to potato ratio all effect it. There is a consistancy you need to be familiar with when makng thers

we often make and then freeze UNCOOKED flat on a cook sheet and when frozen place in a zip lock bag. Take out of freezer when needed and cook

I had a couple of cups of rice krispys sitting around when I saw this recipe yesterday on the show. So I made some and then are great. Good one to make with the kiddos. I did cut down on the sugar. Thought about forming on the back of cupcake tins and putting a scoop of ice cream in them and top with chocolate sauce for a fun dessert
