Reviewed "fauxrizo" taco filling

7 days ago on FoodNetwork.com

Made this for dinner last night. So easy and so flavorful! Only had an 8 ounce package of Seitan, so halved the amounts but followed the ingredients exactly. Used flour tortillas instead of corn simply because we don't really like soft corn tortillas. Made the slaw but used apple cider vinegar instead of the lemon. Really great combination of...

This is quite yummy. Kind of a pain to make, but certainly not difficult. Way too much bechamel sauce in my opinion. Only used about half the recipe and would use less the next time I make it, which I definitely will do. Also used one pound of ground beef and added a layer of sliced zucchini.

Reviewed Ginger-Lemon Oatmeal Cookies

Dec 25, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

These are good cookies and they are quick and easy! A little on the sweet side for me, but I'll just reduce the amount of sugar. I also added a touch of lemon juice. Think I'll add a bit more next time. Love the ginger! Didn't have pecans so I just chopped some toasted almonds. Worked fine.

Reviewed Walnut-Maple Sandies

Dec 25, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

These cookies are good. I used a whole egg instead of just the egg yolk based on the comment below. My dough came out a bit sticky, but manageable. I would make these again -- next time I'll only use the yolk and see what happens. It would be fun to try them with walnut and maybe some lemon zest and juice.

Reviewed Shrimp and Egg Fried Rice with Napa Cabbage

Nov 13, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

This rice was delicious, super easy and super quick to make. And, the perfect use for my leftover takeout Chinese rice. Will definitely make again.

Reviewed Mom's Stuffed Eggplant

Oct 15, 2013 on FoodNetwork.com

The recipe for the stuffing is YUMMY! My only problem is I don't like the skin on the eggplant, but it was easy enough to scoop out the stuffing and the soft flesh of the eggplant. I used small eggplants rather than a large one and my husband went back for seconds. I would definitely make this again.

Reviewed Grandma Maronis Meatballs 100 Year Old Recipe

Aug 3, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I've decided I don't really like these meatballs. For me, it's a texture thing...they are bit too soft. I prefer a firmer meatball. Plus, in my opinion, there is too much filler in them. They taste good, and my husband who is Italian likes them. I'll stick with the Giada recipe I normally use. I have to say, they were quite easy to make."

Easy and very delicious! Don't exactly know what white tequila is, so I used what we had. Used flour tortillas, again, what I had. Added some diced tomatoes, sliced scallions and some chopped romaine...YUM!"

Reviewed Roast Duck

Jun 28, 2013 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

I have never cooked duck before and saw Ina make this recipe on her show. I used one store bought duck, about 7 pounds. Simmered it for about 45 - 50 minutes. Dried it off and let it sit for about 30 minutes before roasting at 500 for exactly 30 minutes. I was concerned it might not be done because it was a bit larger than the recipe called for"

At first, I didn't think I liked these. Tried one warm from the oven and was not impressed. Once they cooled off, I tried one again and they are quite tasty. This recipe is a great springboard recipe. I used apple sauce instead of the oil, just used maybe a tablespoon, added dried cranberries and some chopped walnuts. Only had about 1/2 cup of"

Reviewed Broccoli Soup

Oct 7, 2012 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

My husband brought home a HUGE bunch of broccoli and I didn't want it to spoil before I had a chance to use it all. So, found this recipe for broccoli soup. What a GREAT way to use the stems of the broccoli, which I hate to admit, usually end up in the trash. Just peeled, chopped and used them in addition to some of the florets. Delicious, qui"

My husband and I had these chops for dinner last night. The dish was super easy and very tasty. I had fresh tomatoes from a neighbor's garden which I peeled and used instead of canned. I recently started using fennel - both cooked and raw. I think it's my new favorite vegetable. It's got such a wonderful crunch and mild anise flavor. I defi...
