My Activity

Reviewed Jamie's Old-Fashioned Ginger Crinkle Cookies

"Perfect! I adjusted by subbing in 3/4 cup butter flavor Crisco for the shortening & butter, used less cloves. Didn't have allspice so put in a dab of pumpkin pie spice and a dab of nutmeg. I really dislike molasses, but used it anyway and was very happy with the cookies. Like a chewy gingerbread. Will be a Christmas tradition in my house from now "

Reviewed Simply Delicious Strawberry Cake

"My son's girlfriend wanted strawberry cake for her birthday. I found this recipe and was afraid to try it after reading the comments. I followed the recipe exactly as printed, but did heed the reviews and added 3 Tbsp of flour into the cake mix. I bought the store brand plain old white cake mix....not EXTRA MOIST. Could only find 16 oz. container ""

Reviewed Poppy Seed Chicken

"Haven't tried it but plan to. This is very similar to a casserole someone brought to us after the birth of my second son. Can't wait to taste it again!!"

Reviewed Low-Cal Fettuccine Alfredo

"I made this over the weekend and it has a great flavor. Usually Alfredo is so rich, I can only eat a few bites. This was much lighter. The recipe states 4 servings, but could easily make 6-8 servings. This would bring the calorie-count down a bit and a small serving was very filling. I baked a chicken breast and chopped it and added it to the sauce before combining it with the pasta."

Reviewed Quick Vanilla Buttercream Frosting

"The only change I made to this recipe was to use 1/2 salted and 1/2 unsalted butter. Otherwise, I followed the instructions exactly, using my hand mixer as I don't have a stand mixer. It was all that I have been looking for in a frosting.

I made a double batch as I was afraid I wouldn't have enough to frost a two layer cake. I wanted to do a crumb coat first, so wanted to be sure the top layer wouldn't be skimpy. I did have leftovers, but better safe than sorry. I don't think the original recipe would have been quite enough. I was also worried about the frosting running down the cake as it sat. I left it in a covered cake plate overnight on the counter and it didn't run one bit. It was the perfect consistency.

Yes, it's very sweet, but it is a cake frosting after all.

Loved it and so did my family! Don't think I ever want to go back to buying canned frosting now."
