Reviewed Enchilada Lasagna

Nov 15, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This recipe was good (not great, but not bad either). I did really enjoy the sauce. It has wonderful flavor.
I increased the amount of chicken based on other reviews and I'm very glad I did as it was just the right amount. I used 3 breasts (totally in 1.8 lbs) and poached them in chicken broth then shredded them. I prefer shredded chicken...

Reviewed Swedish Meatballs

Nov 13, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This is a great recipe base for Swedish Meatballs. It reminded me of something my mom would make for us a child. I did use all ground beef for the meatballs and added salt and other seasonings to the gravy to give it a little more flavor. I also had to add more flour to the gravy (mixed it with more beef broth before pouring into gravy) to get...

Reviewed Baked French Toast Casserole with Maple Syrup

Oct 18, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

Does anyone's come out looking like Paula's?? Mine looked like a bunch of sliced up french bread in a pan. I think this may be one of those trial and error recipes. The flavor is delicious on the top part but mine came out part soggy. The top half was perfect, but the bottom half that wasn't exposed due to being layered and the parts where th...

Simple recipe and great, light flavor. I didn't have agave so I used a combination of honey and maple syrup. I also read the other reviews and cut back on the flour. This is one of my go-to recipes whenever I have very ripe bananas sitting around.""

Reviewed Turkey and Artichoke Stuffed Shells with Arrabbiata Sauce

Oct 11, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This recipe is just "OK". I was excited to try this as my son LOVES anything Italian. The entire time prepping I was thinking how delicious everything smelled and looked. But the end result was bland and left me disappointed.""

Reviewed Taco Soup

Oct 11, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This is a great alternative from other chili and soups. I did make a couple revisions. I didn't like the idea of using the liquid from the beans and not rinsing them. So I drained and rinsed the beans. Since this causes you to lose liquid, I added water to the soup. To get some flavor back I added 1 1/2 chiptole peppers and some of the adobe...

Reviewed Chicken-and-Cheese Enchiladas

Sep 20, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This is really a 3.5 star, but it won't let me do that.

I don't typically have Enchiladas with Verde sauce so the flavors were a little new. I think overall this is a good recipe to start with. It's a little on the sweet side and without the cilantro a little bland.

I would recommend seasoning the chicken...

This was OK. It was simple to make but I felt it lacked flavor. Would maybe use this as a basis but add in more vegetables and more seasoning."

Reviewed Teriyaki Chicken Thighs

Jan 3, 2011 in Food Network Community Toolbox on FoodNetwork.com

This is a wonderful recipe. The flavor of the teriyaki is perfect and better than the store bought. I would recommend using boneless chicken thighs and grilling them on the BBQ to get the most flavor. I marinade it as long as possible. This is a regularly requested dish by the family.

Reviewed Pulled Pork Barbecue

Oct 19, 2010 in Food Network Community Toolbox on Food Network

First the good - the pulled pork was delicious and turned out perfectly. The rub gave it great flavor and the meat was tender and falling apart just as it should. I give the pulled pork 4 stars.
The bad - the sauce was absolutely horrible and tasted like mustard flavored vinegar. I ended up throwing it out completely. I made it for...
